About Boys Hope Girls Hope

Founded by Father Paul Sheridan in 1977, Boys Hope Girls Hope is a nonprofit focused on children facing hardship, whether that be based on living circumstances, family, finances, or sub-par schools. The organization maintains non-institutional homes across the US and Latin America in which these children ("scholars") live alongside live-in residential counselors. Scholars live in a family-like atmosphere and receive support to reach their full potentials, focusing on emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual development.

Boys Hope Girls Hope hires two different kinds of year-long volunteers: Academic Success Corps Members and Community Resources Coordinators. Academic Success Corps Members live within one of the organization's homes and concentrate specifically on scholars' academics, assisting with tutoring, overseeing study time, interacting with teachers, helping the children grow intellectually, and other duties. The Community Resource Coordinators focus on connecting with the community, connecting the scholars with resources, managing volunteers, among other tasks.

Applicants must be 21 years or older. The organization considers candidates from varied academic backgrounds.
