About American Association of Advertising Agencies

Founded in 1917, the American Association of Advertising Agencies (AAAA) is the national trade association that represents the advertising agency business in the United States.  The AAAA membership produces around 80 percent of the total advertising volume placed by agencies nationwide, and offers its members services, expertise and information regarding the advertising agency business.

The Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP), launched in 1973, prepares interns for entry-level positions in a range of advertising agency departments.  Internships are available in account management, project management, creative (art direction or copywriting), broadcast production, public relations, media buying/planning, digital/interactive design, account/strategic planning, print production and traffic, among other departments.  Each intern is assigned a personal mentor.  After the internship, students become a part of the alumni association and attend a graduation and career fair in New York.

Open to minority U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are current college juniors, seniors, graduate students or recent graduates.  Students attending AAAA-participating portfolio schools are also eligible.  A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred, though students with a cumulative GPA of 2.7 to 2.9 are encouraged to apply, but must complete an additional essay question in the student application.  Applicants should be able to demonstrate a serious commitment to pursuing a career in advertising, regardless of chosen major.
