About Internships in Francophone Europe

Founded in 1987, Internships in Francophone Europe (IFE) is a nonprofit organization that offers training, placement, and research advice to US students pursuing internships in France and Belgium. The organization fosters discovery, learning, and understanding of French and European society.

IFE offers internship placements in Brussels, Paris, and Strasbourg. Interns are placed in a wide range of organizations based specifically on their interests. Past placements have included corporations, cultural institutions, government ministries, laboratories, NGOs, media organizations, nonprofits, research centers, and schools. The internship begins with preparatory sessions of lectures, site visits, and workshops conducted in French. Once interns join their placement organization, they work as part of the team on significant assignments. In addition to their internship duties, participants complete a field research paper under the supervision of a research advisor and attend a weekly class with IFE.

Undergraduates (sophomore year and above), graduate students, and recent graduates are welcome to apply. French language skills and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/3.1 are required. Open to non-US citizens.
