Monitor Group Summer Consultant Program

Our Summer Consultant Program offers to exceptional college and university rising seniors a unique opportunity to learn about the business world, management consulting, and Monitor.

Through training sessions and informal discussions, you will be exposed to a range of business issues and management frameworks. Through active participation --and real responsibility-- on a live case team, you will develop "hands on" understanding of the day-to-day work of consulting. And through an attractive mix of social events, you will get to know a broad cross-section of your fellow Consultants. In these more relaxed settings, you will have an opportunity to explore any questions you might have about Monitor's distinctive philosophy, values, and commitment to the learning and development of its people.

The objective of our Summer Consultant Program is to provide you with a work experience that takes into consideration your own goals and interests. But it is also to make that experience exciting, challenging, and just plain fun; to support you with the advice and guidance you need to be successful; and to make available to you the opportunities to discover if consulting is the right field --and if Monitor is the right firm-- for you. Of course, the program also gives us the chance to get to know you, your skills, your appetite for learning, and your motivation to do our kind of work. Over the years, we have invited many Summer Consultants who have done superior work during their summer to join Monitor full-time after graduation.

For the United States, Summer Consultant Internships are approximately two months in length. When you arrive, we will provide an introduction to Monitor, its history, and its people, as well as instruction in some of the basic tools you are most likely to use during the summer. We will also ask you to tell us about your personal and professional goals for the Internship, helping us to allocate you to the most suitable case team for you. We'll also help you structure a discussion with your manager about the types of activities most likely to allow you to meet your goals.

On your case team, you will work closely with four to eight Consultants on such tasks as gathering and analyzing data; interviewing industry experts, customers, and suppliers; studying competitors; building financial models; designing market research surveys; and preparing client presentations. As an integral member of the team, your assignments and level of responsibility will progress in line with your skill development. In practice, this means you may get the chance to travel and meet directly with clients. The nature and extent of workload will, of course, vary from case to case, but the overall experience will be genuinely representative of what life is like for Monitor Consultants.

Job Qualifications:

Successful candidates must have an outstanding academic record, in addition to demonstrating:
• Strong verbal communication skills;
• Comfort with quantitative analysis;
• Ability to work well in teams and with clients;
• Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks.

Recruiting Process:

High-performing college and university students, who are now in their third year (or equivalent) will be considered for the Summer Consultant position. Compensation:
Summer Consultats will earn a weekly stipend of $1000 and receive a signing bonus once they accept their offer.
