About Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking Internship Program

Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking is part of the French banking giant Société Générale, which was formed by a decree signed by France's then-emperor Napoleon III in 1864, founding the firm in order to "foster the development of trade and industry in France."  During the past two centuries, that's what Société Générale has done. Société Générale fast evolved into a leading European financial services company and a major player in the global market.  Today, Société Générale is divided into four businesses: retail banking, specialised financial services, global investment management and services, and corporate and investment banking. In France, the bank's retail banking division runs two distribution networks in tandem, Société Générale and Crédit du Nord. In Europe, the specialised financial services activities of the bank have seen it become a major player over the past five years. In North America, Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking, a full service investment bank, operates in 13 cities and employs some 2,500 people. Worldwide, Société Générale CIB employs 12,000 people and operates in more than 40 countries.

The firm offers two internship programs:

A Summer Internship in New York City - The 10 to 12 weeks offers students an opportunity to see if they would like a career in corporate and investment banking. Students will not only gain an initial insight into the banking industry, they will grow and build their  confidence and skills. They will also attend local training sessions led by internal & external instructors and enjoy international networking opportunities. It also offers students an opportunity to gain exposure within the company and increase their chances of getting a full-time position with the firm when they graduate.

Internships Worldwide - The internship program provides an introduction to the world of banking, giving potential candidates an extended period of time to get an overall feel for the industry. In France, the internship is for 6 months. The internships in other countries will vary. Those accepted into the internship program will gain extensive exposure to their chosen specialisation; work closely with experts and get involved in inspiring missions; explore a range of projects and tasks; and strengthen their professional network.
