Bernstein-Rein Advertising Summer Internship

BR is a 49 year old fully integrated agency headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, and is one of the largest independently owned agencies in the United States. Our website showcases the dynamic brands and prominent retailers we represent and the scope of services available to clients. Among BR's many notable achievements is the creation of the McDonald's Happy Meal. Bob Bernstein, co-founder and chairman of the board, is credited by McDonald's with creating this iconic marketing concept.

Internship opportunities in 2014
Two internships are available in each of the following three departments and One in Social Marketing:

  • Account management - Be responsible for managing client's needs with insight and strategy.
  • Creative - Be revolutionary with fresh ideas that bring brands to life.
  • Media -Be receptive to consumer's habits and lifestyles in order to connect with the target in an impactful, engaging way.
  • Social Marketing: FaceBook, Twitter, Google AdWords

The summer program kicks-off with a comprehensive orientation where interns are introduced to the varied and exciting aspects of BR - and the BR culture. During the summer, interns will work on real client business in their respective departments, and they will participate in a group project with their intern class. At the conclusion of the internship, the group will present their project to BR's management team. BR is committed to ensuring that interns experience firsthand the "Be Real" philosophy, enjoy a real work experience and benefit from mentorship of associates throughout the agency.

The eight-week program is open to students majoring in advertising or related fields who have completed their junior year - with at least one semester remaining in their college program. The program begins Monday, June 2 and concludes Friday, July 25. Interns work Monday through Friday from 8:30-5:00 p.m. and will be paid $10.00 an hour. If summer hours are in effect in 2014, BR will close at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, reducing the work week to 33.5 hours rather than 37.5 hours.

Information about the internship is scheduled to be posted online no later than January 31, 2014. The deadline for submitting materials is March 31, 2014. Applicants will be asked to submit a form which highlights their education, interests and talents. We also require a resume and a cover letter. Applicants seeking an internship in the creative department must also submit work samples via their own website or by e-mail. Applicants may submit letters of recommendation, though they are not required. Finalists for each department will be interviewed in person or via Skype, and those selected as interns will be notified no later than April 30, 2014.
