SS&G's spring internship program is from January through
mid-April and we pride ourselves on ensuring that our interns
receive the same type of work as a first year associate. This is an
incredibly valuable experience for accounting majors in their
junior or senior year, or students who are pursuing a masters
degree, as it provides the opportunity to see what it is like to
work during busy season in a public accounting firm. Interns have
the opportunity to work in a professional office setting in either
assurance services or tax at our Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland,
Columbus, or Chicago locations. Specific responsibilities for the
assurance and tax internships are provided below.
Assurance Services Internship
Interns will assist with and learn to audit the financial data of
our clients to determine the reasonableness and accuracy of the
information by performing the following tasks:
•Performing substantive testing in the areas of cash, accounts
payable, accounts receivable, pre-paids, inventory, etc.
•Preparation of financial statements.
•Other duties as assigned.
Interns will have the opportunity to work with ProSystems to
complete individual and some of the less complex business returns
by performing the following tasks:
•Preparation of income taxes (individual and corporate).
•Preparation of franchise taxes and personal property taxes
•Other duties as assigned.
In addition to gaining real-world experience, accounting interns at
SS&G receive a competitive hourly compensation plus paid
overtime and college credit. The firm also provides free meals and
snacks during busy season and keeps the atmosphere in the office
light by holding various games and contests for employees to play
and win prizes.
