Application Process

The intern recruiting season typically starts around August and runs through mid-late April. Resumes and applications are required and submitted through Candidates apply to the position via the recruiting website, the intern recruiter reviews the resume and forwards eligible candidates to the hiring manager. Application Deadline

Altria's internship and co-op program typically starts mid-May. Because of this timing, functions are asked to complete their recruiting around early April. There isn't a "deadline" to apply, but positions are removed from the website once functions have completed their recruiting efforts.

To qualify for the intern and co-op summer programs, students must be enrolled as a rising junior or senior in good academic standing at the time of the internship. Specifically, we are looking for students working towards a degree in the field of study that is related to the internship such as, Engineering/Manufacturing, Business, Information Systems, Finance/Accounting, and Human Resources. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred. We are looking for students who plan time and resources efficiently and possess strong strategic, analytical, and creative thinking skills. In addition to this, successful candidates must demonstrate leadership, initiative, and accountability, as well as exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills. Candidates must pass a drug-screen and background check prior to employment. Pay for an intern position is commensurate based on the student's academic level in school and experience. A housing allowance or corporate housing is available for students who qualify.
