Application Process

We only accept electronic applications. There are a few steps and specifics in applying for a Plante Moran opportunity.

If you attend a school where we are active on campus (refer to our school listing) and have interest in a campus opportunity at Plante Moran, you must apply two areas. It is required by your school as well as the firm, that apply directly to the most appropriate campus position (intern OR full time) on your respective college career site. Also, you will need to apply directly to Plante Moran's website. (See below for additional information).

We receive a high volume of resumes daily and it is in our firm's best interest to carefully review each applicant's credentials and find the top talent which best fits the role for the position.

The following expectations highlight the internship from an overall perspective; however, be sure to refer to the job description for each specific area, since there will be specifics which highlight each area of focus.


  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university/college affiliated with the core major
  • Completed the first two entry-level accounting courses and at a minimum, currently enrolled in the first intermediate level accounting course
  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting or master's degree in accounting is required
  • Maintains strong academic success (minimum major GPA of 3.25)
  • Required credits and courses upon graduation to sit for the exam, geared towards the area of interest. (i.e. CPA - Accounting; CFA - Finance, etc).
  • Candidate is required to pursue the license associated with the area of interest, within the first two years of their employment at the firm.


  • Understand and apply theories and procedures, as well as have a basic understanding/proficiency of the compliance related to their field of study (i.e. Audit, Tax, Finance, etc).
  • Solid technical proficiency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Think analytically to respond to complex inquiries
  • Outstanding time management and organization skills
  • Superior attention to detail and conscientious quality of work product
  • Successful at prioritizing and handling multiple tasks
  • Professional demeanor with superior communication skills all around
  • The ability to work independently and also in a team environment, with a high degree of initiative, poise, and confidentiality
  • Internship experience in public accounting is helpful, but not required
  • Position requires some Saturday work hours and overtime (during winter/spring internship)
  • Position may require some travel (locally, nationally, and occasionally internationally. Therefore, intern must have reliable source of transportation (not relying on mass transportation, since some of our clients are located in areas where mass transit is not available).
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States. NOTE: (Sponsorship is only provided to candidates who meet the qualifications for the Japanese Business Services postings.
