Application Process

The Wells Fargo Wealth and Investment Management Internship Program -This program typically accepts applications through the Wells Fargo Career site in mid-October. To search and apply for open positions in this program, search by keywords, "WIM Intern Program" and follow the instructions to complete your application. The program offers a wide variety of opportunities within our lines of business, with locations centered in Charlotte, St. Louis, Minneapolis and other areas of the country. Position location is determined by business need, tied to the business function, and is not flexible. Applicants are encouraged to be open to relocation for the summer, for which a small stipend is provided.

Audit Summer Internship Program - This program typically accepts applications in the fall for the following summer. Search keywords "Audit intern". Offers are made for a specific audit team based on candidate preference and business needs. Summer associate opportunities are available in Charlotte, Denver, Des Moines, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Antonio, San Francisco, and St. Louis.

Application Deadline

Summer: January and February. Please check the Wells Fargo & Company website for any changes to the schdule. Applicants should apply online. Two rounds of interviews at a Wells Fargo banking office are required.


Requirements differ based on the position:

The Wells Fargo Wealth and Investment Management Internship Program - Successful candidates must demonstrate academic aptitude, distinguished written and verbal communication and presentation skills, exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, and aa proven ability to take on significant responsibility. Additionally, Wells Fargo & Company prefers 1+ month of professional experience through internships, part-time, or full-time work.

Desired requirements include:

  • An undergraduate degree with a graduation date of December 2016 - May 2018*

  • Proven completion of coursework in Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Communications, English or related field

  • Demonstrated experience successfully collaborating with others in a change driven environment

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Leadership experience including; coaching, training, and mentoring

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

  • Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environment

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of financial services industry


Audit Summer Internship Program - Successful candidates must be pursuing a BA/BS in Accounting, Business, Finance, or Information Systems with a planned graduation in the year subsequent to the summer internship, with coursework in accounting, data analytics, economics, computer programming or other financial centric curriculum.

Additionally, Wells Fargo & Company prefers:

  • Bachelor's degree with academic distinction in a business related field such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, Management Information Systems, or Computer Science received by the following June

  • Strong academic aptitude and well-developed analytical problem-solving skills

  • Demonstrated success in completing team projects or working in a team environment

  • Dedication to building a career in the financial services industry

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A proven leader who demonstrates personal accountability and urgency in completing assignments and achieving results
