Theater Managers

Theater Manager Backstage

Theater managers oversee all activities occurring in a theater. They have diverse duties depending on the specific theater. They supervise general maintenance, what events and productions take place in the theater, and ensure profitability of the theater. Their vision, actions, and decisions can mean the difference between the theater staying open or closing. They oversee the theater’s organizational structure and run the day to day activities and operations. They coordinate marketing, fundraising, budgeting, accounting, and staffing. They may work in large theaters, dinner theaters, regional theaters, summer stock theaters, or small, local theaters. Some work in theaters in hotels and casinos. Others may work in concert halls or other venues which put on an array of theatrical productions, concerts, and other events. Theater managers may also be referred to as hall managers, directors of theater operations, or venue managers.
