Science and Medical Writers

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, there is a lot of competition for writing and editing jobs, and employment for writers should grow more slowly than the average for all careers through 2024. Job opportunities for science and medical writers should be better in certain industries. For example, employment for writers who work for professional, scientific, and technical services firms will grow faster than the average, and job opportunities for writers in the health care industry will grow much faster than the average for all careers. Continued developments in these fields will drive the need for skilled writers to put complex information in terms that a wide and varied audience can understand. Opportunities will also be best with online publications and services, as these continue to grow. Writers who are well versed with new media will also have an advantage in the job market.
