Renewable Energy Engineers

Overall, prospects are bright for green-industry jobs. According to the International Renewable Energy Agency, green energy businesses employed more than 760,000 workers in the United States and 8.1 million worldwide as of 2015. This represented 6 percent employment growth from the past year in the U.S. and 5 percent globally. The same report, Renewable Energy and Jobs Annual Report 2016, identified strong growth in solar and wind energy employment, which increased 11 percent and 5 percent respectively from 2014. Slow growth and declines occurred in bioenergy and hydropower due to low production and a drop in construction of new installations. Much of the industry's employment and highest growth occurred in Brazil, China, Germany, India, Japan, and the United States.
