Employment for middle school teachers is predicted to grow faster than the average for all careers through 2018, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Many schools are in short supply of math educators, partly due to the large number of teachers expected to retire. As a result, school systems are competing for teachers in many locations, using bonuses and higher pay to lure the most qualified.
