Marine Services Technicians

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment opportunities for small engine mechanics are expected to grow about as fast the average for all occupations through 2024. As boat design and construction become more complicated, the outlook will be best for well-trained technicians. Boat engines have become more sophisticated and efficient, and there will be a continued need for repair services by skilled, knowledgable technicians. Also, most marine craft purchases are made by the over-40 age group, which is expected to increase in the coming years. The growth of this population segment should help expand the market for boats and create some new job opportunities for qualified technicians.
