Magazine Editors

Employment for editors of magazines, newspapers, books, and directories is expected to decline by 16 percent through 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The recent economic recession has hit the magazine industry hard. Declining advertising revenue has caused many magazines to lay off workers or even fold their operations. Additionally, rising printing costs have forced some magazines to reduce the number of issues printed or transition their print products to electronic-only publications.
