Jewelers and Jewelry Repairers
Employment of jewelers is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all careers through 2018, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook. Despite this prediction, jewelers and jewelry repairers will continue to be needed to replace those workers who leave the workforce or move to new positions. Since jewelry sales are increasing at rates that exceed the number of new jewelers entering the profession, employers are finding it difficult to find skilled employees, such as bench jewelers.
