Insurance claims representatives, or claims adjusters, investigate claims for personal, casualty, or property loss or damages. They determine the extent of the insurance company's liability and try to negotiate an out-of-court settlement with the claimant. There are approximately 306,300 insurance claims adjusters, appraisers, examiners, and investigators employed in the United States.
