Industrial traffic managers handle the booking, billing, claims, and related paperwork for the safe and efficient movement of cargo by air, water, truck, or rail. They analyze the costs of different forms of transport and calculate the shipping rates for the customers. There are approximately 99,700 transportation, storage, and distribution managers employed in the United States. Shipping, receiving, and traffic clerks hold about 750,000 jobs.
