Hotel Concierges

Job opportunities look bright for those interested in a concierge career. Busier lifestyles leave little time for mundane chores or last-minute details. Once shy of or intimidated by the concierge desk, savvy travelers now realize this is a free service available for their convenience. Some hotels have experimented with computerized kiosks advertising tours and restaurants. These displays are less personal, however, and since listings are in essence a paid advertisement, they do not provide a true recommendation. Hotel general managers realize that a concierge department can provide the ultimate in guest services; and it is that type of service that makes a hotel a true luxury hotel. Even many smaller hotels, especially those that cater to business travelers, are now providing concierge service.
