Home Health Care and Hospice Nurses

Nursing specialties will be in great demand in the future. This demand will be felt particularly in the hospice and home health care fields. The U.S. Bureau of the Census estimates that the number of individuals aged 65 or older will more than double by 2030. As the older population increases, their need for medical care will also increase. Hospice participation has grown at a dramatic rate, especially among those involved with Medicare. This number is expected to increase as the population ages and health care costs rise. As a result, employment for registered nurses who work in home health care services¬†is expected to increase by nearly 43 percent, or much faster than the average, through 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Labor.  ¬†
