Green Hotel/Resort Ecomanagers
Employment opportunities for general resort managers is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all occupations through 2018 due to an industry-wide shift away from full-service facilities to more limited service hotels, according to the Department of Labor. However, interest in sustainable travel and green destinations is continuing to grow. More eco-resorts are opening every year and will need managers to oversee operations. Competition is expected to be keen, however, as many of these jobs are in interesting locations, providing managers with opportunities to work in unique, natural settings. Typically, the number of applicants far outweighs the available positions. A college degree, previous eco-resort management experience, and special skills and knowledge can boost a candidate's chance for the job.
