Fire Inspectors and Investigators

Employment for fire inspectors and investigators is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all careers through 2020, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Despite this prediction, opportunities will be good since the U.S. population continues to grow and there will always be buildings to inspect and fires to investigate. The DOL predicts that the most attractive job candidates will have "experience in fire suppression, have completed some fire suppression education at a community college, or have experience and training related to criminal investigation."
