Film and Television Producers
Employment for producers is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all careers through 2018, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Though opportunities may increase with the expansion of cable and satellite television and news programs, development of interactive media, increases in video and DVD rentals, and an increased overseas demand for American-made films, competition for jobs will remain high. Freelance opportunities are also expected to increase as networks look to independent production companies for more programming. Live theater and entertainment will also provide job openings. Some positions will be available as current producers leave the workforce.
