Film and Television Producers

Employment for producers and directors is expected to grow more slowly than the average for all careers through 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Though opportunities may increase with the expansion of online cable and satellite television and news programs, development of interactive media, increases in mobile and online television, and an increased overseas demand for American-made films, competition for jobs will remain high. Freelance opportunities are expected as networks look to independent production companies for more programming. Producers may also find more jobs with large theaters in big cities. Some positions will also be available as current producers leave the workforce.
