The Occupational Outlook Handbook reports that employment for postsecondary teachers in general will grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2020. This is largely because enrollment is expected to increase, creating a greater need for professors. Employment for archaeologists is expected to grow faster than the average, and employment for historians will grow 18 percent through 2020, or about as fast as the average. Job opportunities for biological scientists should also be good. Employment for medical scientists is expected to grow by 36 percent through 2020, or much faster than the average for all careers.
