The Occupational Outlook Handbook reports that employment for postsecondary teachers in general will grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2022. This is largely because enrollment is expected to increase, creating a greater need for professors. Employment for archaeologists is expected to grow faster than the average, and employment for historians will grow slower than the average through 2022. Job opportunities for biological scientists should also be good. Employment for medical scientists is expected to grow by 13 percent between 2012 and 2022, about as fast as the average for all occupations.
