Energy Consultants

Employment for management consultants (including energy consultants) is expected to grow by 14 percent through 2024, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), or much faster than the average for all careers. The OOH reports that employment for management consultants who work in the oil and gas extraction industry will grow by 12 percent through 2024 (i.e., faster than the average for all careers). Employment for consultants who work for engineering and architectural services firms will increase by nearly 12 percent. The job outlook for management consultants is much weaker in the natural-gas distribution industry or the electric power generation, transmission, and distribution industry, both of which are expected to experience a decline in employment of about 11 percent.
