Energy Consultants

Employment for management consultants (including energy consultants) is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2022, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook. The DOL reports that employment for management consultants who work in the oil and gas extraction industry will grow by 15 percent through 2022. Employment for consultants who work for engineering and architectural services firms will increase by more than 21 percent. The job outlook for management consultants is not as strong in the natural-gas distribution industry or the electric power generation, transmission, and distribution industry, both of which are expected to experience a decline in employment of nearly 15 percent.
