Digital Designers

Little or no employment change is expected for graphic designers through 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), but opportunities should be much better for those who specialize in digital design. Employment of graphic designers in computer systems design and related services is projected to grow 31 percent over the same period, and job opportunities for designers who work for software publishers are expected to increase by 27 percent. The DOL says that "with the increasing use of the Internet, companies are increasing their digital presence and graphic designers will be needed to help create visually appealing and effective layouts of Web sites." Clearly, as computer graphic and Web-based technology continues to advance, there will be a need for well-trained digital designers.
