Although the demand for dietetic technicians has been uneven for the past several years, the current outlook is good for the near future. The Occupational Outlook Handbook reports that employment for dietetic technicians should grow faster than the average for all occupations through 2018. This growth is due in part to the strong emphasis placed on nutrition and health in this country and the fact that more health services will be used in future years. The population is growing, and the percentage of older people, who need the most health services, is increasing even faster.
