Desktop Publishing Specialists

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, employment for desktop publishing specialists is projected to decline through 2022. Although desktop publishing software has improved markedly in recent years, more content generators are publishing directly to the Internet; this trend will decrease demand for desktop publishing specialists who work in print. In addition, the improvement in desktop publishing software will make it easier for non-specialists to perform the tasks associated with this job, leading to fewer opportunities for desktop publishing specialists. Job opportunities should be best for those desktop publishing specialists with complementary skills in graphic and Web design.
