Explore Professions » Biophysicists
Employment for biophysicists is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations through 2024, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. The demand for biophysicists will stem from the need for basic research to increase scientific knowledge and to develop biological products and processes that improve our lives. Much of biophysics research is funded by the federal government, so employment opportunities will vary each year depending on federal budgetary decisions and future federal budgetary constraints affecting research funding. Competition will be keen for permanent research and faculty positions at colleges and universities. Those with advanced degrees and experience will have the best job prospects.
