The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that employment for billing clerks will about as fast as the average for all careers through 2024. Although technological advancements—computers, electronic billing, and automated payment methods—will streamline operations, the increasing number of financial transactions will create reasonably good employment opportunities for billing clerks. Many job openings will result from the need to replace workers who have left for different jobs or other reasons. The health care sector will remain a large employer in this field, and job prospects in this industry will be especially strong.
