A college degree is usually a requirement for art directors;
however, in some instances, it is not absolutely necessary. A
variety of high school courses will give you both a taste of
college-level offerings and an idea of the skills necessary for art
directors on the job. These courses include art, drawing, art
history, graphic design, illustration, photography, advertising,
and desktop publishing.
