The first requirement for prospective aircraft mechanics is a
high school diploma. Courses in mathematics, physics, computer
science, chemistry, and mechanical drawing are particularly helpful
because they teach the principles involved in the operation of an
aircraft, and this knowledge is often necessary to making the
repairs. Machine shop, auto mechanics, or electrical shop are
important courses for gaining many skills needed by aircraft
