Adventure Travel Specialists

One-half of all U.S. traveling adults, or about 98 million people, have taken an adventure trip in their lifetime, according to the Adventure Travel Report. This indicates that the market for adventure travel is quite large and is likely growing. The 2013 Adventure Tourism Market Study, conducted by George Washington University in partnership with the Adventure Travel Trade Association, reported that the outbound adventure travel sector had grown by 65 percent yearly since 2009. According to the study, the value of the global outbound adventure travel sector is estimated to be $263 billion, a significant increase over its estimated value of $89 billion in 2010. Many trends in today’s society indicate that this growth is likely to continue. One reason is that the public’s awareness of and interest in physical health is growing; this leads more and more people to pursue physical activities as a form of recreation. Another reason is that as more people realize that a healthy environment means a better quality of life, there is an increased interest in wildlife and wilderness issues. Adventure travel often encompasses both physical activity and education on and preservation of natural areas, so it is a natural choice for many travelers.
