According to the Telecommunications Industry Association, the overall U.S. telecommunications market (including sales of equipment and services) had revenues of more than $1.01 trillion in 2012 and employed more than 865,000 workers. Globally the industry was an approximately $4.7 trillion market. Canada, Mexico, India, and Japan continue to be both the largest exporters and importers for telecommunications equipment, but China is the world's largest telecommunications market in all categories.
