Newspapers and Magazines

According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (published by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics), overall employment in the publishing industry, including newspapers and magazines, is expected to decline through 2022. In newspaper publishing, this is mainly due to a drop in advertising revenue and readership as more people turn to the Internet and television for news. Also, corporate mergers and increased efficiency of publishing operations will result in a need for fewer employees.
