Law

Employment for lawyers is expected to grow about 6 percent through 2024, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), but a growing number of law firm mergers and closures and other factors have created strong competition for top jobs. According to Robert Half Legal, a national staffing firm, “law firms are taking a prudent approach to hiring, seeking experienced midlevel associates who can immediately assume full caseloads. Lawyers with advanced business development skills and portable books of business are also sought by firms looking to expand service offerings in high-demand practice areas. Law school graduates are seeing increased opportunities as firms boost on-campus recruiting efforts and expand summer associate programs.” Hot specialties cited by Robert Half Legal include family law attorney, real estate attorney, and compliance manager.
