Internet Content

Employment in the Internet content industry will continue to grow in the next decade. The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) predicts that Internet publishing and broadcasting will grow by 16 percent, as “these services gain market share from newspaper and other, more traditional media.” Approximately 105 million people in the United States viewed video online daily in 2011, according to “Surviving the Upfronts in a Cross-Media World,” an increase of 30 percent since 2010. And in 2011, nearly 80 percent of active U.S. Internet users accessed a social network or blog, according to Nielsen/NM Incite’s State of the Media: The Social Media Report, Q3 2011.
