Health Care Providers

According to U.S. government projections, employment of health care practitioners is projected to increase 21 percent through 2022, adding about 1.7 million new jobs. The U.S. Department of Labor also says that more than half of the 30 fastest growing occupations are concentrated in the health care industry. By 2022, employment of medical assistants is expected to grow by 29 percent, physician assistants by 38 percent, and home health aides by 48  percent. Medical record and health information technicians employment will grow by 22 percent, and physical therapist assistants by 41 percent. There may be a general perception that careers in health care require advanced education; however, most jobs require less than four years of college.
