Foreign Languages and Studies

The overall outlook for foreign language careers is good, because foreign language knowledge is an economic necessity in a global economy. As of 2013, almost 30 percent of the U.S. economy was directly involved in international trade, and half of the economy's growth since the official end of the recession in 2009 was from exports. Although school and college budgets are under pressure, foreign language teachers are suffering fewer cuts than teachers in many other fields.
