Approximately 1.08 million Americans were employed in the computer electronic equipment manufacturing industry as of 2013. This reflects an overall decline of employment in this industry. As of 2008, there were more than 1.2 million employees in the industry. The DOL projected that the greatest employment declines would occur in the computer and peripheral equipment (32 percent decline), and semiconductor and other electronic components (34 percent decline) segments.
