9 a.m.: Arrive at the office to check emails and voicemails from my team and partners. With a meeting set for next week with our buildings and procurement partners, we must determine this week what we want to achieve as a department this year and how our partners can help us get there.
10:30 a.m.: CSR Council Meeting. At this quarterly meeting of the Council, which comprises director-level associates who push CSR forward in their Humana departments, I recap what initiatives Workplace Solutions (WPS) has underway in regards to energy efficiencies. We also decide the messages that each director will share with their teams.
2 p.m.: Meeting with internal WPS team and our communications agency about rolling out an employee-engagement strategy. Now that we plan to set goals to reduce our waste and energy use, we must engage employees to ensure we hit those targets.
4 p.m.: Call with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) to discuss details of the arrival of our new Climate Corps Fellow in May. For the first time, Humana is participating in EDF's Climate Corps program. As part of it, an MBA student will work in our data center to identify additional energy efficiencies. I'm extremely excited to move forward with this program that will help reduce Humana's carbon footprint, lower our energy bills, and provide a student with valuable experience and hopefully the beginning of a satisfying career.
5:00pm: Wrap up notes from today's meetings, check off tomorrow's calendar and head home. Good to have a relatively smooth day.

David Noltemeyer has served in multiple roles in facility and real estate management at Humana, from daily operations and maintenance to various management roles. He is currently Process Manager in the Workplace Solutions Department of Humana, Inc., responsible for the management the real estate and facility management functions for the company. His responsibilities include environmental sustainability goals and initiatives, project planning, implementation and governance oversight of facility management. David is also a member of Humana's Corporate and Social Responsibility Council.
David earned the Certified Facility Managers credential from the International Facility Management Association in 2007. He currently serves as Chair of the Education Committee Louisville Chapter of the International Facility Management Association, sits on the Board of Directors of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Kentucky Chapter, and is a Business Roundtable Climate Resolve representative.
