Arriving just in time

Perficient, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri, is an IT and management consulting firm. Its clients include Global 2000 companies and other large organizations headquartered primarily within the U.S. The firm's technology solutions are based around third-party software developed by its partners, and can be used to improve business responsiveness, manage customer relationships and boost productivity, as well as reduce IT costs. Perficient has a network of offices throughout North America, and maintains global delivery centers in China, India and Eastern Europe.

The firm was founded in 1997, and has grown from relatively humble origins into a well-respected mid-size consultancy specializing in design and delivery of business-driven IT solutions for clients. The company is led by Jeff Davis, who took over the reins as CEO in 2009.

Working the middle

Perficient offers a range of IT services, including custom designed applications, business intelligence, mobile technology, portal and platform implementations, and service oriented architectures, but its greatest expertise lies in middleware-technology that acts as a kind of electronic glue, allowing multiple processes running on one or more machines to connect and interact within a network. Mirroring its solutions, Perficient's contracts also tend to connect somewhere in the middle, with most carrying a value between $1 million and $3 million.

A friend in IBM

Perficient maintains a mutually beneficial relationship with IT giant IBM. Although it doesn't derive nearly the same proportion of revenue from Big Blue as it once did (in 2003, more than 80 percent of Perficient's annual business revolved around the use of IBM technologies. It's now closer to 40 percent), the tie remains undeniably significant. Many of its clients historically have been obtained through joint selling opportunities with IBM or through sales leads generated from the relationship.

However, over the past several years, Perficient has grown strong partnerships with other leading technology innovators like Microsoft and Oracle. Most recently, Perficient was named Microsoft's US Partner of the Year, and the Google North America Deployment Partner of the Year for the US. Perficient's comprehensive partner network enhances its expertise and extends its service offerings to clients.

Staying inland

Perficient's growth strategy is geographically targeted-for now the firm is focused solely on the U.S. from whence it derives more than 95 percent of its annual revenues. Besides its network of local offices, it also serves clients with more than 1,000 national business unit employees who can be deployed throughout the country. The firm's future expansion, both organic and through acquisition, will also serve to increase the geographic reach of its business units. And, following a couple of years where its acquisition strategy was on hold due to the economic situation, Perficient is now officially back in the market-a fact underlined by a series of acquisitions since 2010.

Nonetheless, Perficient does enjoy offshore capabilities through its global delivery centers in Macedonia China and India, where it carries out application development, adapter and interface development, quality assurance and testing, monitoring and support, product development, platform migration and portal development.

Microsoft Names Perficient US Partner of the Year

Perficient was named Microsoft's 2013 US Partner of the Year. The award recognizes Perficient, one of the top National Systems Integrator (NSI) partners in the country, for delivering innovative technology solutions across all industry verticals and the entire Microsoft product stack. In 2012, Perficient delivered numerous end-to-end integrated solutions for clients leveraging technologies such as SharePoint 2013Office 365Lync Voice and SQL Server. In addition, Microsoft also awarded Perficient with the East Region NSI Partner of the Year award, the Central Region Cloud Partner of the Year, and the Northeast District Cloud Partner of the Year award.

Perficient Adds Salesforce Expertise with Acquisition of Clear Task, Inc.
Perficient acquired San Francisco-based Clear Task, Inc. ("Clear Task"), an $8 million annual services revenue consulting firm focused entirely on the salesforce.com product suite. "Clear Task has helped more than 300 companies experience the power of Salesforce to better serve their customers, manage and motivate their employees, and engage with their partners and communities," said Kathy Henely, Perficient chief operating officer. "Through hundreds of Service Cloud, Sales Cloud, Chatter and Force.com engagements, Clear Task has helped enterprise clients become more responsive, efficient, relevant and social." The acquisition expands Perficient's cloud capabilities to include offerings from each of the world's leading cloud computing providers - IBM, Microsoft, Oracle and salesforce.com.

TriTek Solutions Acquired by Perficient

Perficient acquired northeastern U.S.-based TriTek Solutions, an enterprise content management and business process management consulting firm. TriTek's three primary partnerships are with IBM, Pegasystems and EMC. "Already one of the largest IBM systems integrators in the country, we're pleased to strengthen our skills even further with the addition of TriTek - another IBM Premier Partner," said Jeffrey Davis, Perficient's chief executive officer and president. "TriTek brings meaningful services expertise, impressive bill rates and margins, important intellectual property assets and a proven track record of growth, profitability and client satisfaction."

Perficient and Premier Partner to Improve Patient Care

Perficient announced it has agreed to develop software applications with client Premier healthcare alliance on PremierConnectTM, the largest integrated technology and social business platform in healthcare. One of the first products Perficient will develop will provide a snapshot of how providers are performing against the 33 Accountable Care Organization (ACO) quality measures defined by the Affordable Care Act. "The applications we're developing on PremierConnect, including the ACO 33 application and a Total Cost of Care offering, better enable Premier members to meet regulatory demands, enhance collaboration, lower costs and ultimately improve patient care," said Dr. Marcie Stoshak-Chavez, MD, FACEP, and Perficient's director of Healthcare.

Perficient Expands Enterprise Mobility Offerings

With the rise of enterprise mobility impacting all industries, businesses are forced to adapt to maintain growth, engage their employees and retain customer loyalty. As a result, Perficient has formed an IBM Mobility Practice to offer end-to-end assistance with strategy, planning and implementation of mobile solutions. The IBM Mobility Practice extends and enhances Perficient's well-established mobility service offerings for enterprise customers. "When combining our mobility expertise with extensive experience delivering business process management (BPM), SOA and integration, and Connectivity solutions, Perficient is well positioned to help our clients become more agile, flexible and responsive, which strengthens customer engagement, accelerates productivity, and drives business growth," said Hari Madamalla, vice president of Perficient's IBM BPM and industry solutions practice.

Google Enterprise Honors Perficient

Perficient was named the Google North America Deployment Partner of the Year 2012 for enterprise search. The award recognized Perficient for its expertise in enterprise search and successful implementations of the Google Search Appliance (GSA) platform. During 2012, Perficient implemented numerous GSA implementations for organizations across all industries, including solutions for pharmaceutical, e-commerce and software companies. "This award demonstrates that we can lead our enterprise content management clients successfully through the enterprise search deployment process from start to finish.
