The company also conducts surveys and polls through the Web paneling of its vast database. Media firm TEGNA owns a controlling stake in CareerBuilder, which was founded in 1995.
CareerBuilder operates in more than 60 markets worldwide including cities in the US, Canada, Asia, Europe, and South America. In the US the company has sales offices in about 20 states. Maintaining its foothold in the US, CareerBuilder has been focused on expanding its operations internationally, especially in Asia. It grew its holdings in Singapore and Malaysia through acquisitions.
The company's Digital Segment revenues totaled $919 million for fiscal 2014. That was an increase of 23% compared to the previous fiscal year. The stronger results were driven by the strength of human capital software solutions.

In 2014 the company acquired Broadbean, a leader in job distribution, candidate sourcing, and big data analytics software. In 2013 CareerBuilder acquired KiemViec.com & HR Vietnam, headquartered in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. KiemViec.com is one of Vietnam’s largest career sites.
During 2013 CareerBuilder also acquired Oil and Gas Job Search, continuing its expansion of niche online job search platforms. Oil and Gas Job Search, headquartered in Manchester, England, is the oil and gas industry’s leading online job site outside North America with job postings worldwide.
In 2012 the company purchased Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. (EMSI), an economic software firm that specializes in employment data and labor market analysis. The purchase built on its previous investments in a Workforce Analytics platform that tracks hiring and job search trends to help companies find the best talent.
CareerBuilder bought German-based JobScout24, a job board with more than 3 million users and 250,000 jobs, in 2011. The acquisition complemented its existing German site. The previous year it acquired CareerSite.biz, a provider of online and offline job advertising websites based in the UK. As part of the deal, CareerBuilder integrated StaffNurse.com, RailwayPeople.com, and VirtualFair.co.uk into its website network.
