Clients in need of highly skilled technical and other personnel might want to take the pledge of Allegis. The group is one of the world's largest staffing and recruitment firms. Among its companies are Aerotek (engineering, automotive, and scientific professionals), Stephen James Associates (recruitment for accounting, financial, and cash management positions), and TEKsystems (information technology staffing and consulting). Other Allegis units include sales support outsourcer MarketSource. Chairman Jim Davis helped found the company (originally known as Aerotek) in 1983 to provide contract engineering personnel to two clients in the aerospace industry.
The company operates through more than 300 offices worldwide, including its corporate headquarters in Hanover, Maryland. Outside of the US the company has operations in Canada, Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific Rim, Puerto Rico, and the UK.
Allegis Group has more than 9,000 internal employees, including 3,000 dedicated recruiters and 100,000 contract employees working with customers around the world.
The company has expanded its geographical footprint and improved its position in specialist staffing markets through the use of acquisitions.
Mergers and Acquisitions
In 2011 Allegis obtained Aston Carter, a London-based information technology recruitment firm with expertise in serving the banking and financial services sectors. The deal extended Allegis' international presence as Aston has more than half a dozen offices sprinkled throughout Europe and Asia.
Back in 2009 the company's Stephen James Associates beefed up its presence on the East Coast with the acquisition of professional recruiting firm Stafford Paige.
