CMGRP knows public relations to the letter. Doing business as Weber Shandwick, the company is one of the world's leading public relations and communications management companies. The Weber Shandwick network consists of about 120 offices in some 75 countries, including offices managed by affiliates. Among the company's practice areas are business-to-business marketing, crisis management, financial communications, litigation support, and public affairs. Clients have included such big wigs as Allstate, Electrolux, Electronic Arts, and MasterCard. Weber Shandwick is part of the Constituency Management Group, the marketing services segment belonging to media services conglomerate Interpublic.
The company has conducted its share of Olympic-sized marketing projects. Its successful campaigns led to the selection of Beijing as the host for the 2008 Olympic Games. It also produced campaigns for the Russian city of Sochi, which was the International Olympic Committee's selection to host the Winter Olympic Games in 2014.
In late 2011, Weber Shandwick's South American presence received a boost when Interpublic acquired Brazilian-based public relations firm S2Publicom for an undisclosed sum. Purchasing S2Publicom, which was formed from the merger of S2 and Publicom in 2010, will allow both Weber Shandwick and GolinHarris (another Interpublic PR firm) to serve multinational clients from two offices in São Paulo and one in Rio de Janeiro.
The current incarnation of Weber Shandwick was formed in 2001 when Interpublic combined three public relations firms: The Weber Group, Shandwick International, and BSMG Worldwide.
