Shadow Intern

3.0 of 5 stars

June 2017 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Interesting experience, breadth of responsibilities, contact with many sectors, access to numerous knowledge sources

Downers

Large corporate structure, the challenges that typically face large workforce groups e.g. getting to know colleagues, personal aspects

Comments

Consider carefully the type of business structure you are looking to enter, the actual day-to-day work experience you are looking to get

Bureaucratic but well paying

March 2017 | CURRENT EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Smart people
Pays super well
Great work/life balance
Ability to go anywhere

Downers

Brutal bureaucracy - forget getting things done efficiently. Guess it comes with the largest company in the world

Comments

You will have to learn how to deal with bureaucracy, but if you can, expect to be well compensated

Upstream Drilling

August 2015 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

Great Training & certain fringe benefits, like cheaper cell phone plans.

Downers

Management. They have a ranking system that puts everyone against each other. Lots of nepotism and the "Good Ole Boy" network. If you do not know know someone in management already...you are never moving up.

Comments

Get the training they provide, but then leave for a smaller independent such as Anadarko. They provide advancement opportunities, Exxon does not.

ExxonMobil excellent employer

June 2015 | CURRENT EMPLOYEE

Uppers

competitive salary
Job rotation
Constantly challenged
large range of benefits
safety culture

Downers

The oil & gas industry sometimes has a bad image / reputation, so you do not always feel proud in saying you work for such a giant.

Comments

Starting to become a less conservative environment (started being more innovative with online presence on social media, websites under review and check out the magnificent new campus in Houston)

EM is a good employer

February 2015 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

people care culture, have integrated annual leave and compensation system.
Safety orientated. Which is good to drive our behavior and care our family better.
Stable in year after year employment.

Downers

rotate employee to different positions which keep you always busy and learning new staffs.

Comments

competition is not fierce in the company, good for those looking for secured job, but might not be good option for people who want to realize their ambitious career dream.
