November 2016 | FORMER EMPLOYEE

Uppers

-> Good pay
-> Good benefits
-> Great office
-> Smart colleagues
-> Good tech

Downers

The practice was disorganized and had no cohesion. The partners did not effectively utilize resources within the team nor did they create space for individuals to grow.

Comments

Do your research on the specific practice you are joining and try to suss out the culture of that practice rather than the larger body of CRA.

The culture, subject matter, and compensation package.

Comments

When you consider offers from multiple firms, don't just look at the $$$ and pick the highest. Consider the culture, work/life balance, and other features. The reason I stayed at CRA for 11 years is because I truly enjoy working here. The competitive compensation is a perk.

Intellectually challenging work, great colleagues

Comments

In the economic consulting practices, there are big differences between the career path for junior staff (college level degree) and senior staff (advanced degree, frequently PhD). Thus the experiences can differ a lot depending on which path one is on. Junior staff usually leave after a few years to purse graduate school or other career options, while senior staff turnover is very low. I think both positions offer intellectually challenging work, but this is particularly the case for the senior staff level.
