About Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C.

Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C. is a full-service law firm with four offices in Illinois and Wisconsin. Although rooted in the Midwest, WHD has received national recognition. LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell named WHD to its inaugural Top Ranked Law Firms list and The National Law Journal included the firm on its "Midsize Hotlist."

The firm has eschewed the traditional partnership model of many law firms in favor of a corporate structure. WHD has a (non-attorney) chief executive, a board of directors, and vice presidents.

Milwaukee Roots

The firm was founded in 1943 by Herbert Hirschboeck and Malcolm Whyte, who left behind large Milwaukee firms to form their own small practice, taking on a handful of other attorneys after World War II ended.  An early firm client was the Miller Brewing Company, then a growing regional brewery.  The firm successfully defeated a rival brewery that had copied Miller's distinctive clear bottle and labeling.  The firm continued to represent the company until it was sold to Philip Morris in 1969.  By 1973 the firm founded as an alternative to large practices had grown to 50 attorneys and in 1993 Whyte & Hirschboeck merged with Frisch Dudek, with the combined firm taking on its current name.  The firm has experienced expansion in recent years including southward expansion into Chicago in 2013 and, most recently, opening an office in Waukesha County, WI in 2015.

Flipper, Faster Than Lightning

When Palace Entertainment Holdings, the California subsidiary of a Spanish theme park operator, purchased Noah's Ark-the nation's largest water park- it turned to WHD to close the deal.  A few years later Palace Entertainment purchased the Miami Seaquarium-made famous by the 1960s TV show Flipper-and once again relied on WHD for the transaction.

Hearts for Healing

WHD attorneys recently represented the family of the victim of the so-called "Slender Man stabbing"-when two 12 year old girls stabbed their classmate 19 times, allegedly to impress the fictional internet character known as the Slender Man.  WHD has provided crisis communications and spokesman services for the survivor's family, as well as legal representation throughout the criminal proceedings.  The firm also assisted by helming fundraising activities for the family's mounting medical bills, including staging the Hearts for Healing Mini Brat Fest in Madison, WI.
