About Veale Wasbrough Vizards

One of the largest firms in the West, Veale Wasbrough’s fast growth in recent years has seen it climbing the ranks among the UK’s regional firms. In late 2008, Simon Pizzey stepped aside as managing partner after 10 years on the job and was replaced by insolvency and corporate recovery partner Simon Heald. Heald was quickly confronted by the challenge of a plunging market. After a detailed review and consultation process in the spring of 2009, the firm made a number of redundancies; although the initial proposal envisioned cutting 10 per cent of the workforce across all levels, in the end less than 8 per cent were affected.

Deal big, deal little

Veale Wasbrough is best known for its work in, education and charities, planning, health, local government, family business and private client. In the education sector, Veale Wasbrough has taken on a high-profile role in helping private schools collect unpaid fees from parents and represents educational institutions at all levels, from nurseries to universities. The firm also sits on a number of government panels, including the Office of Government Commerce’s Buying Solutions L-CAT panel, the Treasury Solicitors’ commercial panel and the Oxfordshire Authorities call down panel. The firm is a founding member of the Association of European Lawyers, a network of firms to provide services throughout Europe. Veale Wasbrough also runs a pair of branded divisions: personal injury and union services outfit Augustines Injury Law, and Convey Direct, a residential conveyancing arm.
